Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Criticized as the Weakest Entry in the Series
The single-player campaign of Modern Warfare 3, with its brief and weak storyline, has been accused by pre-playing fans of being super disappointing and hastily put together. They also attribute this to Warzone.Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was supposed to officially launch on 10/11, but pre-order gamers were able to jump in early. However, there has been a wave of negative feedback from this early-access gaming community.

As a result, the single-player campaign is poorly crafted and short. Instead of the previous versions with storylines lasting 6-8 hours, Modern Warfare 3 only provides around 3-4 hours, leaving players unsatisfied. Moreover, about half of this time is dedicated to open-world-style missions rather than a traditional linear narrative. All weapons and cosmetic items in the game are recycled from Modern Warfare 2.
Worse still, fans point out that the open-world gameplay is quite similar to Warzone's mini-missions. This makes the single-player experience feel like a co-op mission, but players are forced to play solo. From this, players believe that the developers didn't have enough time to create a compelling story - MW3 was released right after MW2, making this a completely reasonable observation.
Numerous critical opinions have been posted on the Call of Duty subreddit on Reddit, accompanied by memes created by gamers to mock the game. 'It can be concluded that this is the most disastrous campaign I've ever played, and 100% of the blame is on Warzone,' wrote gamer D_ultimateplayer on Reddit, being voted as the top comment. 'Like a slap in the face, I'm shocked and horrified. Everything unfolds right in front of you.'
Modern Warfare 3 was initially a very unstable deal. In 2022, there were rumors that it would be an expansion of Modern Warfare 2. However, Activision later officially announced it as a standalone game with a $70 price tag. Strangely, the product was significantly cut in content, featuring only remade maps from Modern Warfare 2 and including all weapon and fashion models from its predecessor. The game also lacks a co-op multiplayer mode like other versions, instead opting for a zombie mode reusing Warzone maps. Furthermore, despite being called a standalone game, Modern Warfare 3 is sold and installed like a DLC, requiring Modern Warfare 2 (renamed Modern Warfare HQ) to run.
Players are left with a direct question for Activision, 'Who were you trying to deceive?'
