Chrome is evaluated as the browser with the largest user base and receives the most positive reviews from users. However, Chrome still suffers from some drawbacks such as high RAM usage and slow web browsing due to memory overflow or excessive junk files. At this point, to ensure Chrome operates stably and efficiently, we need to implement the following tricks:
Disable Extensions
Step 1: Click on the three dots at the top right corner of the screen to open the menu, then select More tools and choose Extensions.
Step 2: In the Extensions tab, you'll see the extensions you've installed. If you don't like any of these extensions, you can toggle the switch from green to gray to disable it. If you want to remove it from Chrome, you can click on Remove.
Clear Browsing Data (History, Cache, Cookies...)
Over time, Chrome browser may become sluggish due to accumulated junk files such as history and cookies. To clear these junk files, follow these steps:
Step 1: Click on the three dots icon as shown below, then select History or press Ctrl + H.
Step 2: Click on Clear browsing data as shown in the image below.
Step 3: The clear browsing data window will appear, switch to the Advanced tab. Then select All time, check all the boxes, and click Clear Data.
Disable Hardware Acceleration
Hardware acceleration mode in Chrome can be quite useful in some cases as it utilizes CPU and GPU resources to speed up data processing. However, it may cause system conflicts and slow down the browser. The solution is to disable this feature. Follow the instructions below.
Step 1: Click on the three dots at the top right corner of the screen and select Settings.
Step 2: In the settings menu, choose Advanced.
Step 3: Scroll down to the Systems section and uncheck the box for Use hardware accelerator when available.
Reset Chrome Browser Settings
