Less than a year after the first foldable Razr, Motorola today introduced an upgraded version with numerous changes to enhance both hardware and software. The new device will also be $100 cheaper than its predecessor, and it supports 5G with network unlock capability, meaning it can be used in Vietnam if imported.
Most of the weaknesses of the previous generation are promised to be addressed in the Razr 5G, including camera, battery life, and hinge. The design of the device still resembles the classic Razr line, retaining nostalgic elements. Inside is a 6.2-inch touch screen with a 21.9:9 aspect ratio, while the external display, referred to as Quick View by Motorola, will feature a 2.7-inch OLED screen. The device features a more powerful configuration with the Snapdragon 765G chip, bringing 5G connectivity to the Razr. RAM has been increased from 6GB to 8GB, internal storage bumped up to 256GB, and the battery is now 2800mAh. The fingerprint sensor has been moved from under the chin to the back.
In terms of camera, the device will feature a 20MP front camera while the rear camera is upgraded to 48MP, equipped with ToF sensor, laser autofocus, and optical image stabilization. Motorola has significantly improved the software for utilizing the dual screens, for instance, users can now reply to messages directly from the external screen.Motorola claims the hinge has a lifespan of up to 5 years for users who open and close the device 100 times a day. Unfortunately, Motorola did not specify the enhancements and upgrades they made to the hinge. The device will be priced at $1399 and will be available this fall.
