Whenever users visit a website requiring account creation with an email address, Firefox Relay suggests generating a new disposable email or using an existing one. Thus, Firefox users can easily utilize this feature and navigate through registration requests without the need for a separate window.
Mozilla incorporates Firefox Relay's email protection system into the browser
Emails received by the virtual email account are forwarded to the user's real email address, maintaining privacy and anonymity while still enjoying online services. If any of the disposable email addresses start receiving spam or unwanted emails, users can easily delete that email and create a new account without affecting the main account.
Additionally, in case of data breaches, the email address in contact with threatening agents is just a one-time-use Firefox Relay email, ensuring users won't expose any personal information. Firefox stated that since its launch, this email protection system has blocked over 2.1 million unwanted emails.
With integration into the Firefox browser, the option to create and use disposable emails will be directly provided to users signing up for the Firefox Relay service, without the need to download extensions or use external dashboards as before. Initially, Firefox Relay will be provided to a select group of users and websites, but Mozilla plans to roll out this feature to all users and more websites later this year.
