WebRender, also known as Quantum Render, is one of the new components built on Rust. It's worth noting that Mozilla officially released Firefox Quantum in 2017, but at that time, WebRender had not been implemented.
In a blog post, Lin Clark stated:
'With WebRender, we aim for applications to run smoother at 60 frames per second (FPS) without any issues, whether on large screen devices or pages with fluctuating frame rates. Pages running at 15 FPS on Chrome can run at 60 FPS on Firefox with WebRender.'
According to the release notes of Firefox 67 beta, the WebRender feature is currently being tested on computers running Windows 10 equipped with NVIDIA GPU. It's currently unclear whether the new feature will be deployed on older Windows versions or other platforms.
