It's no secret that Mozilla is working to remove Flash support from its web browser. Last year, Firefox 69 disabled Flash by default, and prior to that, Firefox 47 made this plugin an 'click to activate' option, while Firefox 52 phased out NPAPI plugins except for Flash.
Flash will cease to function on Firefox 85 in 2021
Although January 26, 2021 marks the release date of the first Flash-free Firefox version, the plugin will officially cease operation on January 12, 2021 when it reaches its end of life.
The Adobe Flash Player tool was first released 24 years ago in 1996 and has supported games and video content until the emergence of HTML5 about a decade ago. Since HTML5 came into play, online game and video developers have gradually moved away from Flash. The two main benefits of transitioning to HTML5 are security and performance, as not everyone updates their Flash installations and it doesn't work well on some operating systems like Linux.
