With just about a month left until the expected launch of Xiaomi 13, leaks about the next flagship from Xiaomi are becoming more prominent. According to a quote from Android Authority, leaker Yogesh Brar posted technical specifications leaked on Twitter for Xiaomi 13 Pro with significant camera upgrades.

According to the leaked information, Xiaomi's upcoming flagship is once again set to benefit from the collaboration with the renowned camera company Leica. Xiaomi 13 Pro is expected to feature a triple rear camera setup, all with a 50 MP resolution. However, this time Xiaomi might upgrade the main sensor to the Sony IMX989 1-inch sensor previously equipped in the Xiaomi 12S Ultra (an exclusive model in China).

Xiaomi has also collaborated with Sony to co-develop a sensor with a whopping $15 million investment (approximately 373 billion VND), aiming to enhance low-light performance, faster autofocus, and improve dynamic range. Information from another reputable leaker, Digital Chat Station (as quoted by Gizmochina), suggests that Xiaomi's upcoming flagship is likely to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and is currently being fast-tracked in production. This implies that the Xiaomi 13 Series could be launched in November this year and hit the market in December. Additionally, Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro will feature a camera system fine-tuned by Leica, immersive audio, and water resistance.

The information about the Xiaomi 13 Series sounds intriguing, doesn't it? However, I have a different perspective on this matter. Specifically, I think the Xiaomi 13 Series is likely not to be introduced this year but will be unveiled next year. The reason is that the Xiaomi 12S Series marked the return of Xiaomi's flagship S-series. The Xiaomi 12S Series is equipped with impressive specifications, featuring the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and a camera fine-tuned by Leica, so I speculate that Xiaomi will not unveil the Xiaomi 13 Series this year.

Xiaomi 13 series is expected to be unveiled at the end of 2022 (update: 21/06)

Currently, the Xiaomi 13 series is in development and is expected to be equipped with the upcoming flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. While Xiaomi 12 Ultra has yet to be released, it seems Xiaomi has already started developing the Xiaomi 13 series. This is why Xiaomiui speculates that this phone will be launched earlier than anticipated, possibly around November.

As per information from GSMArena, this is an intriguing speculative story. Recently, Xiaomiui uncovered a total of four IMEIs (International Mobile Equipment Identity) from the Chinese database. Based on the gathered data, it is believed that these four models will consist of two variants for the Chinese market and two variants as the global versions of Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro.

The mentioned model numbers for the Chinese market are 221113C and 2210132C. Conversely, 2211133G and 2210132G are predicted to be global model versions, indicated by the 'G' at the end. Additionally, Xiaomi's flagship product releases often fall in December as the company strives to adopt the latest and best from Qualcomm. This implies that Qualcomm might easily seek an earlier release for the Snapdragon Gen 2 chip.

Xiaomi 13 Pro boasts a powerhouse configuration with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip

According to information from PhoneAqua, Xiaomi 13 Pro could be equipped with the Snapdragon 898 chip, but I think this might not be accurate because the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is currently Qualcomm's top-of-the-line processor. Therefore, in my opinion, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is the next flagship chip from Qualcomm, and it's highly likely that Xiaomi 13 Pro will be powered by this new processor.

Currently, although the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 delivers powerful performance, it faces several issues causing discomfort for users, such as overheating leading to reduced performance and increased power consumption. To address this, many manufacturers have had to lower the chip's clock speed or implement a cooling system, similar to what Xiaomi equipped on the Xiaomi 12 series. Despite that, I find those solutions not ideal, so I hope Qualcomm will optimize temperature management better on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Additionally, Xiaomi 13 Pro features a substantial 12 GB RAM for excellent multitasking capabilities, allowing users to smoothly perform multiple tasks and play high-demanding games without experiencing lag.
