1. My feelings when reading the excerpt Fighting with the Windmill, sample number 1:
Fighting with the Windmill is a special feat of the talented knight Don Quixote from the Mantra region. This knight is the main character created by the Spanish writer Xec-van-tec in the novel of the same name. Don Quixote was originally a poor nobleman, nearly fifty years old, who spent his days with books as his companions and indulged in pastimes. But the books that the nobleman read were martial arts adventures, stories of knights that were mostly fictitious. The nobleman was fascinated by the world of knights and their feats, so he decided to leave home to become a knight, living a wandering life here and there. Don Quixote's purpose in leaving was to eliminate evil and restore justice, to rescue the poor and the oppressed. Immersed in the world of knights, Don Quixote also immersed himself in the world of imagination. Therefore, on every road he traveled, he saw giants, monsters... rampaging and committing atrocities. Giants, monsters were all associated with Don Quixote's imagination. On the road to seek justice in life, Don Quixote also had a very loyal squire and a true prototype of the books he had read, the kind-hearted, carefree, and life-loving farmer Xantro Panxa. They traveled together on every road of the country, sharing hardships and sharing every sorrow.
Here the giants appear on the road to carry out the knight's justice are windmills, to 'three or four dozen windmill battles in the field', they seem to appear suddenly, unexpectedly and quickly create an illusion in the mind of the knight, who is riding on the skinny warhorse Rôxinantê and is emaciated to the point of being only skin-covered bones. Always dreaming of achieving feats like the knights of old, so Don Quixote saw this as a good opportunity: 'Fortune has favored us too much. Oh, my friend Xantro Panxa, have you seen those dozens of giants? Let's go out and end their lives; with the spoils we obtain, we will become rich and prosperous...'. A vast field, windmills standing tall, is a poetic setting for the wild, imaginative, and insane imagination of the knight. However, his squire is not imaginative at all. So when he heard his master talk about the giants, he immediately asked: 'Which giants?' - a question as if he had fallen from the sky rather than a squire who always accompanies his knight and must be a close companion. Don Quixote just pointed out to him: 'The ones you see in front of you. Their arms are very long, almost two miles long'. Xantro's practical mind immediately recognized his master's mistake. He saw the need to explain to his master: 'Please be careful. What you think are giants are just windmills, and the things that look like arms are just the blades; when there is wind, they will turn around and grind the stones inside.'
