In response to the 'Tree Planting Tet - Forever Grateful to Uncle Ho' movement, our school organized a greenery care session. The event took place last Sunday with the participation of all teachers and students throughout the school.
Spring is the season for planting trees, and our school planted many trees last month. Last week, we were called to care for the greenery as an exciting experiential activity. Some of us brought watering cans, others brought pruning shears, and the rest brought buckets and pots...
According to the school's assignment, our class and another class collaborated to care for the trees around the sports ground. The trees surrounding the sports ground are large and provide shade, including species like banyan, phoenix flower, barringtonia, and Indian rubber tree. Together, we cleared all the weeds around the tree bases and picked up litter. Then, each person took a bucket, fetched water, and watered the trees. Given their size, we had to use 3 to 4 buckets of water for each tree.
After a while, as carrying water was quite a distance, my hands were tired, and everyone felt the strain, yet our smiles persisted. Concluding the tree care session, before leaving, I gazed back at the newly planted rows of trees. The branches swayed gracefully in the wind, as if expressing gratitude and bidding us farewell.

Following the assignments given by our teachers, each of us had a task to care for and support the distressed trees. The flower beds in front of the classrooms were flattened, and I had to prop up some branches like makeshift crutches for them to stand firm. Some of us cleared the water channels to prevent flowers from getting flooded. The large branches from the old trees were neatly gathered by our teachers, who then called in the machine operator to trim them. We all used brooms to sweep away fallen leaves under the schoolyard, picking up various debris carried by the wind and rain around the tree bases and flower pots. Later, the school distributed fertilizer, and we applied it to each flower and tree root, hoping they would regain their vitality.
