NASA aims to apply this technology for the first time on the Lunar Gateway (Moon Gateway), a space station orbiting the Moon, responsible for supporting NASA in completing the Artemis mission - the project to return humans to the Moon by 2024. The US space agency states that the system they are developing will utilize natural language to communicate with astronauts, providing them with advice on experiments or performing simple tasks.

AI and machine learning will be the technologies behind this advanced assistant system. They may even be tasked with managing various systems when there are no humans at the station. For instance, the system will be trained to autonomously troubleshoot data transmission issues or similar errors.
