After humans departed, Mother Nature 'reclaimed' the prosperous fishing village on Gouqi Island, China, turning it into an impressively green-covered town.
Nature's Blanket: An 'Eerie Town' Shrouded in Foliage in China

The Mirror (UK) publishes a photo series of the 'eerie town' on Gouqi Island, where each house is almost entirely adorned with lush green vines.
Gouqi Island, originally one of the 400 islands in the Shengsi archipelago in eastern Zhejiang province, China, used to be the home of a prosperous fishing village. However, it gradually fell into neglect after fishermen moved into businesses on the mainland.
Over time, many pathways in the village and several houses became dilapidated. However, Mother Nature breathed new life into it: vines climbing up roofs, balconies, windows... transforming the town into a novel and verdant place.
Intrigued by the town's scenery, many tourists visit Gouqi to experience its unique atmosphere. However, they need to make advance reservations and are limited in number to preserve the tranquility of the town.
