New Features Added: Audio and Enhanced Inbox for Facebook Messenger and Instagram

I. New Features of Facebook Messenger

1. Message storage

Facebook Messenger users can now tidy up their inbox without deleting or hiding conversations, thanks to the new storage feature that preserves chat history.

Swiping a conversation to the left from the Messenger inbox screen will display the option to archive that conversation. Tapping on the purple button will send a conversation to a new Archived Chats folder. Users can access the Archived Chats folder by tapping on their profile picture in the Messenger mobile app and selecting Archived Chats.

2. Tap to record audio

Voice message enthusiasts can now easily record messages in Messenger. Instead of holding down the Microphone button to record a message, you only need to tap once to start recording and tap once again to stop. This feature will soon be available on Instagram but currently it's exclusive to Messenger.

3. Fresh themes

Messenger users have more options to personalize their conversations with the addition of new themes. From the chat theme menu, users can choose new themes like 'Star Wars' or Netflix's 'Selena: The Series.'

1. Respond to messages with photos or videos

Instagram has added a new direct message reply feature, allowing Instagram users on iOS (and soon on Android) to respond with their own photos or videos. When receiving a message containing a photo or video, simply tap the camera icon to capture a photo or video to reply or to upload from the phone's photo library.
