The Grand Cathedral in Hanoi is currently undergoing exterior renovations, with many passersby or onlookers surprised by the dark-colored paint. Previously, the exterior of the structure was sandy white and covered in a layer of moss over time. Efforts are also being made to achieve a similar color tone.
According to Wikipedia, Hanoi's Grand Cathedral is the principal cathedral of the Archdiocese of Hanoi, where the archbishop's seat is located. The construction was inaugurated on Christmas in 1886, taking two years to complete.
This is the original hue of the cathedral before the repaint, soaked with the essence of time. I captured this image using the HTC U Ultra with HDR.
Many people come here for photo shoots; I reckon many would mistake this for the final paint coat.
Another shot with the sunlight slanting down.
They're putting on the finishing touches, you can see that the black paint layer there is just the base, when completed it will have a concrete-like color like this.
To achieve that, they'll paint that white layer onto the base layer but not evenly. They deliberately make it look scratched.

What do you all think of this new paint color?
I'm not sure if the interior has been repainted or not, but when I went in today, it looked like this. This photo series was taken with a Leica M8 and a Summicron-C 40mm lens 😁
