Recently, app developer Jane Manchun Wong uncovered (with additional details from Kieron Quinn) a hidden Alpha version of Snapchat for Android, providing app experiences on par with the iOS version. The new Snapchat interface for Android is cleaner, with significantly enhanced app performance, running smoother on high-spec devices.
However, since this is an Alpha version, the app still lacks many features and settings, including access to Snapcode on user profiles and exhibits buggy behaviors. The camera app still captures screenshots instead of direct photos. Moreover, only rooted Android devices can check the Snapchat Alpha version. Therefore, users are generally advised against installing the Snapchat Alpha version and may opt to wait to experience new features until the app is released in the future.
