Lightweight and soft to the touch, that's the all-new Starry Sky Switch from Newmen.
As a professional manufacturer specializing in computer peripherals, including mice, keyboards, USB hubs, card readers, and headphones... Particularly over the past two years, Newmen has been relentlessly striving in the mechanical keyboard arena, unveiling various compact keyboards, keyboards themed around Eastern culture, and multi-connectivity wireless keyboards, compatible with multiple devices.

Having gained attention and acclaim from a wide range of users, Newmen recently unveiled its first two mechanical keyboards featuring the Gasket structure, namely GM780 / GM980. While providing the main configurations, the company also introduced a new premium switch, the Starry Sky Switch, co-designed and manufactured with Kailh - a globally renowned switch manufacturer. Let's explore what this premium Newmen switch has to offer.

The Starry Sky Switch, co-designed and manufactured by Newmen & Kailh, employs a color scheme with transparent switch tops, deep blue switch bases, and light blue switches... creating a fresh and natural appearance, aesthetically pleasing. A rich green color is added to the transparent switch tops as a decorative element, making the top cover look more layered and potentially providing better visual performance under lighting.

The switch base is made of durable and deform-resistant material, making it convenient for installation and removal. The light blue switch is made of POM material, featuring self-lubricating properties that can provide users with a smoother and longer-lasting feel, more durable.

The lower part of the switch utilizes a five-pin solution, compatible with most current mid-range and high-end keyboard PCBs. It offers high flexibility, solid fixation, and greater stability. For users who prefer no plate mount, they can also avoid switch misalignment during installation, with overall performance still being excellent.

The Starry Sky Switch is a linear switch with light actuation force. It adopts the current dominant MX structure design and a four-pin switch housing layout. The switch body is tightly integrated and sturdy.
With dustproof housing, it can reduce the ingress of dust and debris into the switch. This helps to prolong the switch's lifespan and provide long-lasting smooth tactile feedback. Both the switch housing and the inside of the switch base are lubricated, and with the guide rail structure, it can provide a smooth, slick, and stable pressing sensation. The switch body uses a single-layer long spring, ensuring even force and a linear sensation. The metal contact inside the switch is also gold-plated, potentially extending the switch's lifespan.

When installed in a keyboard, the switch looks spacious and substantial. The transparent switch top, akin to crystal, and the sequin layer inside also make the switch look deeper and richer.
With a white plate mount, it also looks more elegant. The spherical shell structure also allows the switch to easily accommodate most current LED types, ensuring better light transmission and uniform light performance, while also being user-friendly for keyboard users who enjoy lighting effects.

The Starry Sky Switch uses a light 40g actuation pressure scheme, with a total travel distance of 4mm and an actuation distance of 1.9mm, boasting a lifespan of 80 million presses, so you can rest assured it will last for many years.
Characterized by a linear feel, light and smooth actuation, stable base, and relatively easy-to-follow rebound. During continuous typing, the hand feels soft, comfortable, and free from stickiness. The overall typing noise is properly controlled, without any spring noise, ensuring excellent overall performance. The light and comfortable sensation is ideal for daily use, suitable for data entry professionals, professional typists, or female users, without causing noticeable fatigue during prolonged use. With its excellent noise control, it can easily adapt to most daily usage scenarios.
For gamers, this switch offers a lighter feel and moderate actuation, requiring some adaptation time.
Summary

Starry Sky is Newmen's first premium custom switch, excelling in pressing sensation, appearance, and aesthetics. The light pressure linear sensation is also a suitable feeling preferred by the majority of current users, user-friendly. It offers a light and linear pressing sensation, soft and smooth, while also being highly compatible with a wide range of user types. Overall performance is excellent. According to the information from the company, this switch will be applied to Newmen's first Gasket keyboards GM780 / GM980.
