Nikon has just launched the Nikkor DX 24mm f/1.7, tailored for its Z-mount crop (APS-C) cameras, priced at $280 (equivalent to 35mm focal length). This is poised to be a quality addition for enthusiasts seeking wide angles with large apertures.
Nikon claims this lens will provide users with the ability to shoot with shallow depth of field while maintaining high detail, delivering 'effective' bokeh even in low light or complex lighting conditions. The quality of bokeh rendition is the unique selling point of this lens.
The Nikkor DX 24mm f/1.7 features a compact and lightweight design. At first glance, it could easily be mistaken for another lens, perhaps the 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR. It weighs 135 grams and measures 7.1 x 4 cm. Internally, it consists of 9 lenses divided into 8 groups, including 2 aspherical lenses. It has 7 stacked aperture blades, allowing for aperture adjustments from f/1.7 to f/11.Nikon has announced a minimum focusing distance of 17.8cm and a 46mm filter size for the Nikkor DX 24mm f/1.7. Furthermore, the Japanese manufacturer pledges to eliminate lens breathing, enabling smoother focusing even during video recording.
