A few days ago, HMD Global unveiled plans to release Android 11 for a range of supported smartphones, starting from the Nokia 8.1 released at the end of 2018. However, the company has not yet completed the deployment of Android 10, with some models still awaiting this update.
Currently, the company is getting closer to completing the update schedule as Android 10 is being rolled out for Nokia 3.1. Introduced to the market in the summer of 2019, Nokia 3.1 is one of the oldest smartphones to be upgraded to Android 10, marking its second-generation Android update since Android Oreo.
As usual, the deployment is taking place in phases, and currently only a few markets have received the update, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Georgia, India, Kazakhstan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Morocco, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tunisia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
In the customary fashion for Nokia phones, only 10% of users in these markets receive the update on the first day. By October 10th, it will reach another 50% of users, and by October 12th, all users in these markets will be updated to Android 10. Other markets will receive the update in due course.
Alongside the Nokia 3.1, the only device yet to receive the update in HMD Global's lineup is the Nokia 5.1. HMD Global's Product Director, Juho Sarvikas, stated that the Nokia 5.1 will be updated shortly thereafter.
With updates for these 2 devices, HMD Global will conclude the full Android 10 update schedule as promised in September last year.
In addition, Microsoft has also integrated the Immersive Reader tool into OneDrive and PowerPoint to meet user needs. It is noted that Immersive Reader for PowerPoint and OneDrive will begin rolling out later this year.
