1.1 Sacred Yên Tử Mountain Area
Nương Yên Tử Village is situated in Uông Bí City, Quảng Ninh Province, forming part of the Yên Tử Cultural and Historical Site. From Hanoi, you can reach here by car, covering a distance of approximately 135km. If departing from other areas, consider purchasing flight tickets to Vân Đồn International Airport, then continuing by road for an additional 110km to reach Nương Yên Tử Village.
The Yên Tử area covers a natural area of nearly 2,700 hectares, with 1,700 hectares being natural forests characteristic of the Northeastern ecosystem, serving as a habitat for rare and endangered flora and fauna. Most notably, there are 200 ancient thuja trees, some of which are up to 700 years old.
Additionally, the bamboo forest is considered the highlight of Yen Tu, due to its noble significance, representing the moral integrity of scholars. This type of tree was named by King Tran Nhan Tong for the Truc Lam Zen sect, which he founded.
Not stopping there, interspersed among the forests are a system of meticulously designed temples, hermitages, and towers harmoniously blending with nature. Thanks to the convergence of many cultural and historical factors, Yen Tu has always been a favorite pilgrimage destination for Buddhist followers, especially during the first lunar month with festivals lasting until the end of the third lunar month.
1.2 Nương Yên Tử Village
Inspired by an ancient legend 700 years ago, when King Tran Nhan Tong chose Yen Tu as a place of meditation, it is said that there were many loyal concubines determined to follow despite the king allowing them to return home. These women stayed at the foot of the mountain, establishing villages and living there. However, over time, the villages gradually disappeared.
Nương Yên Tử Village recreates a space imbued with many Northern Trần dynasty influences, featuring houses made of baked clay, brick walls, ironwood, and stone pavements. The overall complex exudes a solemn, mysterious yet profoundly sacred atmosphere.
