Office LTSC releases differ from Microsoft 365 (formerly known as Office 365) as they are purchased as a one-time fee, but this also means these versions will never receive any new features until the next perpetual license release. Additionally, you only get 5 years of mainstream support and then, support ends. However, Microsoft 365 subscribers will receive continuous support and new features will be added as long as their subscription is active.

Office LTSC and Office 2021 for Mac will feature some functionalities already present in Office 365 over the past few years. Although the full feature list has not been disclosed yet, Microsoft has revealed some notable additions such as support for Dynamic Arrays and the new XLOOKUP function in Excel, Line Focus in Word, and the ability to voice-over presentations in PowerPoint.
Another major change from previous releases is that the next Office LTSC version will come bundled with Teams as part of the installed features, replacing Skype for Business. However, unlike other Office apps, Teams will be continuously updated over time, but you will only have access to the free version as the premium version is licensed separately.
