In accordance with a recent report from Omdia's website, the leading smartphone globally in 2021 was none other than Samsung's Galaxy A12, challenging the conventional belief regarding iPhones or other flagship Android models.Indeed, it appears that the prevailing notion is that iPhones are the best-selling or most popular smartphones each year. While this holds true within the premium smartphone segment, in a more affordable price range, mid-range or upper mid-range Android devices may be given more consideration by users. Consequently, Samsung's Galaxy A12 has risen to the top and become the most popular and best-selling smartphone of the past year.
In the US, the Galaxy A12 is priced at $180 (equivalent to over 4.1 million Vietnamese dong, where prices range from 4.4 to over 4.5 million), making it one of Samsung's most affordable smartphones. Among the top 10 best-selling phones of 2021, Samsung also secured another spot with the Galaxy A02, priced at $140 in the US. The remaining 8 spots are dominated by Apple's iPhone lineup, with the iPhone 12 being the best-selling device of 2021.
Furthermore, in the realm of flagship Android devices, particularly foldable flagships, Samsung has nearly cornered the market with 88% of foldable smartphones being from the company. This was especially evident with the release of the Galaxy Z Flip3 and Z Fold3 in 2021, which claimed the top two spots in the ranking of best-selling smartphones for the year. In total, approximately nine million foldable smartphones from various manufacturers were sold in 2021, marking a 309% increase from 2020.According to 9to5google
