As they encountered others, Coconut Skull appeared mournful for not finding his wife. Seeing his sorrowful expression, the wealthy man and his two daughters approached to console him. The wealthy man said, 'Son, you've passed the imperial examination. Now, you and your wife should be celebrating your reunion. Our youngest daughter's fate is truly pitiful; she couldn't wait for the day of your success to pay respects to our ancestors. Surely, even beneath the golden stream, she's celebrating for you. Come, ease your sorrow.' The wealthy man looked at his son-in-law with a heavy heart, feeling sorry for him and his beautiful and kind-hearted youngest daughter. To let the two sisters finish their act of the older sister consoling the younger, Coconut Skull finally called his wife out from the chamber. Upon seeing the youngest daughter, the two older sisters froze in shock. They thought they were seeing a ghost. They screamed in terror. But the youngest calmly reassured them, 'Sisters, don't be afraid. I didn't die; it was thanks to the items your husband brought that I escaped death.' The wealthy man, upon seeing his daughter, ran to her joyfully, embracing her tightly. The youngest daughter clung to her father, telling him about the plot to steal her husband concocted by her two older sisters. After hearing the story, the wealthy man was furious and wanted to punish his two elder daughters, but the youngest pleaded for mercy on their behalf. Touched by the youngest daughter's kindness and compassion, the two elder sisters felt extremely ashamed. They promised to change their ways.

One day, Sọ Dừa and his wife went to the market to buy another sow. At home, only their two mischievous children were playing in the garden.
