Step 2: Navigate to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER ->Software section.
Next, under Software, locate Microsoft -> Windows -> Current Version -> Explorer -> FileExts.
Within FileExts, go to the .lnk section.
+ OpenWithList Remove all entries, leaving only - (Default) REG_SZ (value not set).
+ OpenWithProgids Delete all entries, leaving only : (Default) REG_SZ (value not set) and lnkfile REG_NONE (zero-length binary value)
+ UserChoice Remove the UserChoice folder
