Upon installation, we encounter the straightforward interface of Dell Battery Meter, consisting of 3 tabs: Battery Status, Battery Life, Battery Health.
The Battery Status tab furnishes information regarding the current state of the battery such as charging status, percentage...
Battery Health indicates the overall condition of the battery. Here, you'll find details on the percentage of battery wear, aiding in gauging its depletion rate.
Battery Life is aimed at maximizing energy efficiency while enhancing battery durability by deactivating charging features and utilizing battery power while plugged in. This article will guide you through configuring battery longevity settings within the Battery Life tab.
Step 1: Open the Battery Meter dialog box
To begin, open the Battery Meter dialog box by clicking on the battery icon in the corner of the screen and selecting Dell Battery Meter
Step 2: Activate Disable battery charging mode
To activate the Disable battery charging mode, select the Battery Life tab within the Battery Meter dialog box => choose Disable battery charging as shown below.
The purpose of this action is to deactivate the charging feature and solely rely on direct power from the adapter, meaning your computer will only draw power from the adapter, and the battery will not charge even when plugged in. This is the operational method employed to reduce battery depletion by the software.
Restart your machine for the settings to take effect. For example, in the image above, I selected the mode for watching movies, browsing the web, document editing, photoshop... and after setup, you'll see the notification '16% available (plugged in, not charging)' which means '16% battery remaining, plugged in but not charging'. To utilize Dell Battery Meter, press Fn + F2 or F3.
Above are the steps to configure Dell Battery Meter to minimize battery depletion for Dell computers. Additionally, if you use other laptop brands, you can refer to articles on various effective battery usage methods.
Wishing you successful implementation!
