Windows 11, the latest operating system from Microsoft, is available as a free upgrade for eligible devices. If your desktop or laptop is already running this OS, here are settings to enhance your efficiency, boosting productivity for work and study.
1. Customize Start Menu Display
The new Windows 11 Start Menu resembles Windows 7, providing a cleaner look. However, it introduces new elements like suggested apps or files, which can be bothersome. Tailor the Start Menu by navigating to Settings -> Personalization -> Start, and adjust the display according to your preferences.

2. Personalize Your Machine
You can personalize your computer for convenient usage. Access the settings by going to Setting, then select Personalization, followed by Device Usage. Specify the purpose of your device usage, and explore settings and recommendations tailored to your needs from Microsoft.

1. Explore Windows Explorer Display Modes
In Windows 11, the spacing between items is wider compared to the older version. If you prefer the Windows 11 display interface, you can choose View and then Compact View to condense the item spacing.

2. Disable Data Collection and Ad Suggestions Feature
This is a pre-installed feature on the operating system. However, if you find it inconvenient, you can turn off this feature with a few simple steps. Go to Settings -> Private & Security -> General, uncheck the Let apps show me… advertising ID option.

3. Adjust the Start Menu to the Left like Windows 10
The Windows 11 Start Menu is, by default, centered with the app icons on the taskbar. If you are not accustomed to this new interface and want to adjust it to resemble Windows 10, simply find and select Setting -> Personalization -> Taskbar. In the Taskbar alignment section, choose Left. You can also customize the display of active apps when using multiple displays on your computer by checking the option When using multiple displays, show my taskbar apps on.

You can also disable tracking permissions for other users, such as accessing language preferences, monitoring frequently opened apps, and displaying suggested content in app settings. The data analysis feature can also be turned off by going to Setting -> Private & Security -> Diagnostics & feedback to disable data sending to Microsoft servers. You can choose to turn off Location tracking, Camera, and Microphone when not needed
