Yesterday, upon opening the Instagram app, I noticed some changes. For instance, the toolbar now includes a 'Buy & Sell' section, and the notification icon, shaped like a heart, has been relocated to the top right corner. However, upon revisiting the app, the interface had reverted to its usual state. Instagram initially introduced a Shopping tab back in 2020, but in reality, not all users have seen this feature appear on their apps.
Instagram's widespread implementation plans for this feature remain unclear. Prior to this, Instagram stated that they are not merely a photo-sharing platform anymore but are also focusing on developing features related to videos, content creators, shopping, and messaging. In my limited experience testing the Shop feature, I found it quite similar to Facebook Marketplace, where brands or users list their products. With a large user base, creating an additional space for buying and selling products is a logical step.
