II. Sample essay recounting the story of The Ugly Duckling
Every winter, flocks of birds gather and fly south to escape the bitter cold weather.
That year, a pair of swans had just given birth to a baby swan, but she was still too small and weak to travel far. Concerned about their ability to endure the long journey, the swan mother discussed with the swan father the idea of seeking help to care for their offspring until they could return the following year. Fortunately, while flying part of the way, they encountered a duck caring for her own young ones, similar in age to their baby swan. Moved by the plight of the swan family, the mother duck agreed to help, and they gratefully thanked her before flying away.
The baby swan stayed with the duck family. Because of its different appearance from the ducklings, it was always bullied, teased, and ridiculed by its peers. Its slender figure and long neck were subject to constant mockery...(Continued)
