(Homeland) - Your ChatGPT account might not be as secure as you think.

In a recent cybersecurity study released by Group-IB, no fewer than 100,000 ChatGPT user login credentials have been compromised and are currently being traded on various hacker forums.
The global cybersecurity leader headquartered in Singapore identified a total of 101,134 infected devices containing stolen ChatGPT login information. The report reveals that the Asia-Pacific region has the highest percentage of ChatGPT accounts affected by malicious software (40.5%) from June 2022 to May 2023. Other heavily impacted regions include the United States, Brazil, Egypt, France, Morocco, Indonesia, and Bangladesh. Vietnam ranks fourth among the top 10 countries with 4,771 compromised accounts.
Group-IB's platform uncovered these compromised login details in the logs of well-known data-stealing malware like Raccoon, Vidar, and RedLine. Due to the indiscriminate nature of this malware, it targets as many computers as possible to collect data. At its peak in May 2023, 26,802 ChatGPT account details were up for sale.

Group-IB emphasizes that the growing trend of integrating ChatGPT into business and software development also means an increasing amount of sensitive information shared on various platforms. This makes it an ideal target for exploitation and illegal gains.
The potential storage of ChatGPT conversations implies that unauthorized access to accounts can expose exclusive information, internal business strategies, personal contact details, software code... Concerns about associated risks with ChatGPT have prompted numerous major companies to urgently implement strict policies prohibiting the use of this platform on computers connected to their systems.
The prevalence of ChatGPT extends to the underground world as well, according to Group-IB. They have uncovered instances of hackers seeking to exploit the chatbot for writing malicious code and engaging in other harmful activities.
