Following its tremendous success on the screen, “Pao's House” has become an unmissable destination on the journey to explore the Dong Van Karst Plateau (Ha Giang).

The Enchanting Sùng Là Village
The name Sùng Là has long been familiar to travelers from afar whenever they visit Dong Van. Described as a flower amidst the rocky plateau, Sùng Là is captivating with its rustic, tranquil beauty characteristic of the mountainous region, highlighted by the small village of Lũng Cẩm.

Nestled in the picturesque valley, surrounded by rugged mountain ranges resembling protective walls, the cultural tourist village of Lũng Cẩm is now home to over 60 households, predominantly of the Lô Lô, Mông, and Hán ethnic groups.
If you imagine the misty gravel roads when arriving in Lũng Cẩm, you will be completely surprised because the village entrance now has concrete roads leading to each household, yet Lũng Cẩm has not lost its inherent beauty. Right from the beginning of the village, you can see lush green cornfields and dew-drenched rose beds.
The Timeless Charm of Lũng Cẩm's Vintage Houses

Since being chosen as the backdrop for captivating scenes in 'The Tale of Pao,' the 'quadrangle' house of a renowned Hmong family, famous for many years, has become the most beloved destination in Lũng Cẩm Village. Amidst the dry rocky plateau, 'Pao's house' resembles a small canvas portraying the mysterious and enchanting life of the Hmong people.
The pathway leading to the house traverses through a field of wildflowers. If you visit during the buckwheat flower season, the scenery on both sides will immerse you in romantic pink hues, contrasting with the vast, chilling beauty of the mountains and forests. The house, primarily constructed of earth, with its ancient tiled roof, stone thresholds, and column bases.
Originally belonging to the ancient noble class of the northernmost Hmong ethnic group, the house has a main 2-story section divided into multiple living and guest rooms, a secondary section divided into 2 small rooms serving as a warehouse, kitchen, and a livestock and poultry pen. The house, surrounded by stone fences in all directions, converges in the middle with a courtyard creating a warm, tranquil space.
Every time guests arrive, the children in the house pour out as if celebrating, welcoming them with innocent eyes. Even if they don't fully comprehend the Kinh language, and the strangers can't grasp the Hmong tongue, it doesn't hinder the laughter of the children when offered cakes, candies, or taking photographs.
For many years now, with each Tet holiday and the arrival of spring, 'Pao's house' bustles with tourists, as the white of plum blossoms and the pink of peach trees embellish its allure. Restoring the tranquility of Lũng Cẩm, everyone leaves with their own photographs, beautiful memories of the rocky plateau, and the ancient stilt house.
