Apart from the system cleanup feature, CCleaner also provides you with the ability to permanently delete data on the hard drive. However, not everyone is aware of and utilizes this useful function on CCleaner.
Guide to Permanently Delete Data on Hard Drive with CCleaner

Step 1: Open the CCleaner application and click on Tools.
Step 2: Select Drive Wiper to scan and clean the drive.
Step 3: When you enter the Drive Wiper panel, you must choose from options including: Emptying 1 drive or the entire drive (Wipe), selecting the deletion method (Security), and selecting the drive to delete (Drivers). Then click Wipe to permanently delete data on the hard drive.
The deletion methods include 4 types such as:
- Simple overwrite (1 time) is a deletion with data overwrite.
- DOD 5220.22-M (3 times) is a thorough deletion on the hard drive and deletion procedure follows the standards of the US Department of Defense.
Step 4: Alternatively, to permanently delete data on the hard drive each time you scan, select CCleaner -->Wipe Free Space to scan when the application is running.
