Plastic pollution in the ocean isn't just offshore. When a water bubble rises from the seabed, it carries bacteria and organic matter, releasing them into the air upon bursting. Nowadays, water bubbles also act similarly with plastic microorganisms. These plastic particles are blown back towards the land by sea winds. The more plastic particles on the water surface, the more there are in the atmosphere. It's crucial for the United Nations to agree on a global treaty to limit plastic production. With a strong enough agreement to restrict production, reduce single-use plastics, and nations implementing systematic waste collection and management in rivers and streets, we'll witness a significant reduction in marine debris.According to WIRED.
