New Pokemon GO Events Celebrating 3 Years Since Launch
The 3rd anniversary celebration brings forth a plethora of simple events for players, offering three new mini-events for everyone to enjoy with the first kick-off on June 28th at 1:00 PM PT. The first of the three events will provide higher encounter rates for Pokemon like Sandshrew, Vulpix, Diglett, and more, as well as exclusive new Avatar items for players to showcase their individual styles.
- Shiny Alolan Pokémon: You'll have the chance to encounter Shiny Alolan Pokemon Rattata, Sandshrew, Vulpix, Diglett, Meowth, Geodude, Grimer, and Exeggutor.
- Trainer avatar items: Player's personally styled avatars will be available in the Style Shop.
2. Party Hat Photobombs
Niantic also reveals that from June 28 to July 6, the second event named Party Hat Photobombs will take place. Once a day, Pokemon GO festival-goers will have the chance to snap commemorative photos with Pikachu.
- A familiar face returns to the party: Once a day, you may have the opportunity to encounter a Pikachu wearing a hat when taking a GO Snapshot! Party-hat-wearing Pichu may also hatch from 7 km eggs.
3. Rewards and Challenges
Niantic will wrap up the year with their third event, running from June 28 to September 2, focusing on Raids, Trading, and Jump-Starts. Players will have specific goals to accomplish for a chance to earn special rewards and other enticing perks.
- Jump-Start Research: Looking to boost your progress? Have a friend who wants to play but feels they've missed out too much in Pokémon GO? Don't worry! Trainers can complete Special Research to receive helpful rewards to continue or start a new adventure. This special challenge is only available this summer for players at level 10 and above, so make sure your friends know to join in and claim special rewards.
- Raid Bonuses: Take down Raid Bosses faster and earn additional Premier Balls from catching them when playing with friends.
- Reduced Stardust Costs for trades: Trading Pokémon will cost less Stardust.
