Every commencement day brings back fond memories of stepping into the first-grade classroom. That precious 'once in a lifetime' experience has deeply engraved itself in my mind, becoming a source of nourishment for my childhood soul.
That year, before school's commencement day, I rode around Elementary School A with dad—a place that would become my home for next 5 years. I gazed at yellow walls, green-painted doors. Dad mentioned how this school has been around for many years. He even read words at school gate to me. At that moment, I was filled with love for school and eagerly awaited next day.
On the morning of that opening day, I woke up very early. Through the window, the autumn sky still looked the same as any other day, but to me, it seemed exceptionally beautiful. Looking at the garden below, I also felt the trees were so lush, beautifully green. Could it be that everything was wearing new clothes to welcome me and my fellow students to school? Lost in thought for a while, I quickly shook off my reverie and hurried to freshen up. Afterwards, I joined my grandmother for some morning exercises and had breakfast with the family. When the clock struck 6:30, I bid farewell to everyone at home, following my father to school for the opening ceremony.
On the way, I saw many students wearing fresh uniforms, carrying colorful backpacks and bags. Their faces, partly hidden behind their parents' figures, were filled with excitement and joy. That day, the journey to school was bustling with liveliness and anticipation.
The moment the bicycle stopped at the school gate, I felt my heart pounding with excitement. Soon, I would officially be a member of this second home. Sensing my apprehension, my father gently took my small hand and led me into the school compound. He settled me on a stone bench by the phoenix tree, then went to check the class and room numbers on the notice board. Luckily, my class was assigned on the ground floor of block X, so we quickly found it. My father took me into the classroom, helped me settle into my seat, and arranged my books in the desk compartment. Once everything was in place, the teacher entered the class. At this point, she announced that all parents must swiftly move outside the school premises. Lastly, despite feeling a bit anxious, I bid my father goodbye.
A while later, when the school's announcement echoed through the loudspeakers, my classmates and I poured out into the courtyard like bees swarming out of a hive. We briskly searched for our respective class areas and sat attentively in our seats. Everyone was a mix of nervousness and excitement to partake in this significant ceremony. Everything seemed so fresh and novel in our eyes.
