1. Concept of “spoken language”
- Audio language perceived through hearing and partially through sight (observing gestures, expressions), verbal communication in daily interactions, direct contact between speaker and listener, alternating roles of speaking and listening.
2. Characteristics of spoken language
- Speakers and listeners can directly respond to adjust and modify speech. However, due to the lack of time for reflection and careful selection, spoken language lacks the refinement of written language.
- It is highly diverse in intonation, accompanied by supplementary means such as facial expressions, eye contact, gestures, postures,... of the speaker.
