In preparation for the summer tourism peak, Cô Tô Island district has unveiled new travel products such as coral reef diving; expanding night-time economic activities like beach bars, overnight camping, culinary districts. The district is actively exploring the commencement of commercial hydroplane routes to the island. Expected in July 2023, Hai Au Aviation Joint Stock Company will operate commercial routes from Tuần Châu, Ha Long to Cô Tô Island to serve tourists.
The type of aircraft utilized for the route will be the Cessna Caravan from the Textrol aviation group, USA. This aircraft, the largest single-engine amphibious plane, is considered the safest when landing on water (according to the Federal Aviation Administration and the International Civil Aviation Organization), meeting standards for stability, fuel efficiency, and safety. This aircraft is also assessed for its capability to fly and land in any water or ground runway area.
