Question 1 (page 63 Vietnamese textbook grade 3): Retell the story of Little Ones and the Old Man in the words of a young friend.
Answer:
The sky was turning towards evening. The sun was about to set. Flocks of cranes were busy flying across the sky. We were happily playing, so we returned home content.
Retell the story: The Little Ones and the Elderly Gentleman as narrated by a young friend.
The Narration:
The sun had begun its descent behind the distant mountain range. Our childish games came to a temporary halt. As we made our way back, everyone was in high spirits, laughing and chatting. Suddenly, we noticed by the roadside, an elderly gentleman sitting forlornly, his face etched with sadness. I exclaimed:
Then, the whole group began speculating:
We, a group of youngsters, surrounded the old man. One of us asked, 'Excuse me, sir, is there anything we can do to help you?'. The old man looked at us with grateful eyes and slowly replied, 'Thank you all very much. But there's nothing you can do for me.'
The old man looked at us with a gentle, thankful gaze, then spoke slowly, 'Thank you, kids. But there's really nothing you can do for me.'
Pausing for a moment, the old man continued with a choked voice, 'My wife has been in the hospital for several months now. Her condition is getting worse by the day, she might not make it. I'm waiting for a ride here to take her to the hospital. Even though you can't help, I appreciate you easing some of the sorrow in my heart.'
Hearing the old man's words, we all fell silent, feeling compassion for his situation. A while later, the car arrived, and we helped the old man into it. We watched the car until it disappeared around a bend in the road, then we all went back home together.
