Question 2 (page 132 of Vietnamese 4 textbook): Tell a story about one of the given topics (textbook page 132)
Response:
Let me tell you a story about me and Hoang. Hoang is a disabled boy living next door to me. His family is very poor. His father passed away when he was just one year old. Now he's nine years old and paralyzed in both legs after a paralysis fever. He looks very pitiful. When he was five years old, I used to go to his house to play. Hoang really likes me. I told Hoang that next year he should come study with me. When I said that, Hoang looked down at his legs and then looked up at me and said, 'Nam, go to school and come teach me here.' After saying that, tears streamed down Hoang's face. Seeing Hoang sad, I felt very sorry. That night, when my father came home from work, I told him, 'Dad, I feel so sorry for Hoang! He really wants to go to school but doesn't have the means. Is there any way we can help him, Dad?' My father said, 'I'll write a letter requesting Hoang to go to school. I'll figure out the transportation later.' The next morning, I hurried over to tell Hoang the news. He was very excited, hugged me tightly. A month later, my father bought a brand new wheelchair. The wheelchair was gifted to Hoang by the charity organization of the province. So Hoang now has a means of transportation. Every day, I help Hoang get to school. Now both Hoang and I are in fourth grade. We are both excellent students. Hoang's mother really appreciates me. Whenever there's something delicious, she often brings it over for me to eat. I'm telling you this story not to show gratitude to Hoang but to talk about empathy and sharing joys and sorrows in our lives. Only true friendship can understand and help each other in life.
