The Tale of Two Brothers and the Peach Tree
Once upon a time, there were two brothers whose parents had passed away. They lived together for a while until the elder brother got married. Not wanting his brother to stay with them, the elder brother and his wife decided to divide the family's wealth. When dividing the inheritance left by their parents, the elder brother and his wife took all the valuable possessions, leaving only a piece of land with a sweet peach tree for the younger brother. The younger brother didn't complain; instead, he worked as a laborer and took care of the peach tree. When the peach tree bore fruit, one day a phoenix came and ate all the fruits, moving from one fruit to another. The younger brother lamented to the phoenix, saying,
- 'My only source of livelihood is this peach tree. If you eat all the fruits, what do I have to rely on?'
The phoenix replied:
- 'Eat one fruit, pay one gold nugget. Bring a sack with you to carry!'
Then, the phoenix took him to a distant island filled with treasures of gold and silver. As instructed by the phoenix, he only filled the bottom of the sack with gold nuggets and was brought back to his old garden by the phoenix.
From then on, the younger brother became wealthy.
Seeing his brother's newfound wealth, the elder brother inquired about the situation and begged to exchange all his wealth for the peach tree. Touched by his brother's request, the younger brother agreed to the exchange. When the peach tree bore fruit again, the phoenix returned to eat. The elder brother angrily drove it away. The phoenix said as before:
- 'Eat one fruit, pay a gold nugget. Bring a sack with you to carry!'
Being greedy by nature, he had hidden a bag of six gold nuggets. The phoenix also took him to that distant island beyond the sea filled with treasures of gold and silver. When he saw the valuable items, he hesitated for a long time, not knowing what to take and what to leave behind. The phoenix urged him to return, so he hastily stuffed the bag full of gold and jewels and greedily adorned himself with them. When he climbed onto the phoenix's back, it had to flap its wings three times before it could lift him up. The phoenix struggled to fly over the vast sea, but because he was too heavy, the phoenix staggered and flapped its wings, causing the elder brother to fall into the deep sea along with the bag of gold and jewels.

Question 2 (page 43 of Vietnamese Textbook 4):
Answer:
Once upon a time, in a certain family, there were two brothers. After their parents passed away, the elder brother divided the inheritance. Taking advantage of being the eldest, he took all the assets left by their parents, leaving the younger brother a small garden and a peach tree in a corner of the garden.
When the peach tree blossomed and bore countless fruits, a bald eagle suddenly flew in and ate all the fruits. The younger brother, feeling sad, said to the eagle, 'If you eat all the peaches, what will I have to survive?' The eagle replied: 'Eat one fruit, pay one gold nugget. Bring a sack with you to carry.'
Listening to the eagle's advice, the younger brother made a sack out of three layers of cloth. The next day, the eagle flew in to take the younger brother to the island to retrieve gold. The younger brother filled a sack with three layers of gold nuggets and rode back on the eagle's back. From then on, the younger brother became wealthy.
The elder brother learned of the situation and demanded to exchange all his wealth for the peach tree. The younger brother agreed. Every day, both couples stood under the peach tree. The eagle returned. The elder brother pretended to cry and tell tales of poverty, and he was also told the same words that the eagle had told the younger brother before. He went home and made a sack of twelve layers. The eagle returned to take him to the island. He was dazzled by the island of gold, trying to stuff the bag full of treasures. Not stopping there, he even stuffed gold and silver jewels into his body wherever he could. Then, in his greed, he pulled the bag of gold onto the eagle's back.
Due to the weight of the gold bag, the eagle had to flap its wings three times to lift itself off the ground. While flying over the vast sea, a sudden gust of wind blew in, causing the eagle to tilt its wings and drop the gold bag and the elder brother into the sea. Thus ends the fate of a greedy man.
