Tecno has just confirmed the launch of its first foldable phone, named the DuoFold. The device will be introduced at the MWC Barcelona 2023 event. This is a product of collaboration between Tecno and TCL CSOT.
Tecno and TCL CSOT established a joint lab back in July 2022. This lab is responsible for driving innovation and meeting customer needs, as both brands prioritize research and development. The new display technology used on the DuoFold is the result of this collaboration. It's expected to provide an exceptional visual experience, even when folding/closing the screen.
The DuoFold features a dual LTPO display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display is introduced as having 'virtually no creases, delivering vivid imagery.'
Additionally, Tecno reveals that the successor to the DuoFold is currently in development and promises to offer even better display capabilities. Expected to launch in 2024, the device will feature Tecno's self-developed wrinkle optimization technology, Pattern 2.0. This technology will ensure that creases on the screen are nearly non-existent.
The screen layer is said to be approximately 20% thinner, as well as utilizing TCL CSOT's PLP technology to further enhance the display experience.
Of note, two companies are currently researching and developing a phone with a scrollable screen. This marks the introduction of a smartphone with a folding screen but without any visible creases.
