There are 2 ways to block Facebook messages on your phone: blocking from user settings and blocking from the sender. Below, Mytour.vn guides you through both methods on Android devices, and you can perform similarly on other devices.
1. Block Facebook messages from user settings.
After logging into Facebook, go to your profile page. Select the horizontal ellipsis icon (1) then select View Privacy Shortcuts - Privacy (2) as shown below.
- Navigate to the Who can contact me? (3) section to block Facebook messages from strangers, who frequently send spam, ads, scams, and Facebook spam.
- Here, switch from Basic Filtering to Strict Filtering as shown below to enable message filtering.
These are the initial steps to block Facebook messages on your phone. Next, we move on to a more 'firm' approach.
2. Block Facebook users.
Blocking Facebook users is one of the available functions to help users prevent someone from viewing their content, photos, information... When you block someone, you will no longer receive any messages from that person.
- First, go to the View Privacy Shortcuts - Privacy section as mentioned above, then select Other Settings (1) as shown below.
Navigate to the Block (2) section as shown below to block Facebook users who frequently send messages with advertising, spam, or even scams to you.
Enter the email or username of the user you want to block, then press Block to proceed with blocking them and all the messages they send.
Note: with the second method, although it is a 'strict' measure, for users who often send spam messages, you may face difficulties in finding their names (as you may not know their email). Be patient to search for them in the filtered name list, it may take more time but you will be able to block them completely.
