Typically, during holidays, including Christmas, 5-star hotel prices usually rise or come with additional service fees. This year, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, many hotels, especially those in major cities like Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, are offering discount programs. Many hotels are offering up to an 80% discount for the Christmas holiday and are not charging additional fees.
Hotels in popular destinations like Ha Long, Ninh Binh, and Da Lat are maintaining stable room rates. According to information from online booking platforms such as Vntrip.vn, Agoda, Booking.com, many 4-5 star hotels in these destinations are fully booked for the New Year holidays.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh from Thanh Xuan, Hanoi, a travel package seller, revealed that currently, all resort rooms at the Onsen mineral spring area (a new tourist spot in the city) have been sold out. 5-star hotels are experiencing difficulties in room reservations due to limited room availability. Travelers planning trips during this period should make early bookings or consider alternative accommodations like cruise ship cabins, condotels, homestays, etc.

Luxury 5-star hotel prices in Ho Chi Minh City
As mentioned earlier, 5-star hotel rooms in Ho Chi Minh City are experiencing quite attractive discounts, with most 4-5 star hotels offering reductions ranging from 30% to 60%. Some hotels are slashing prices by up to 80%. The average discounted room rates for 4-star hotels during the New Year holidays range from 600,000 to 800,000 VND per room. 5-star hotels are offering post-discount rates ranging from 1.5 million to 2 million VND per room.
As of December 18th, according to statistics on the Agoda website, 56% of hotels registered for room sales through this app have run out of rooms.
Luxury 5-star hotel prices in Hanoi
Similar to Ho Chi Minh City, many 5-star hotels in Hanoi are also offering significant discounts for the 2021 New Year holidays.
After discounts, 4-star hotels have prices ranging from 400,000 VND to 1 million VND. 5-star hotels in the city center have prices ranging from 1.5 million VND to 2.5 million VND.
