Nikon users are surely familiar with the sight of Thanh Starnt or Dr. Thanh using the Nikon 85mm lens for portrait photography... perhaps they've captured all the models in this SG land. Yesterday, I decided to get myself a Nikon Z 85mm F1.8 lens, not for portrait photography but for shooting 4K 60fps videos on the Nikon Z8 to make it stand out.
Throughout my history of lens usage, I've only used 35mm and 50mm for photography. Occasionally, I've used the 105mm for engraving name photos, but I've never been accustomed to longer focal lengths and haven't seen the necessity for everyday photography. This time, purchasing the 85mm lens serves only one purpose: direct face-to-face filming for voiceovers during video shoots.
The primary advantage of the 85mm lens is its sufficient focal length to capture upper body shots without needing to step back too far. Furthermore, it ensures smooth skin rendering and enhanced background blur. This section shares theoretical insights, and I look forward to testing and sharing more with everyone, thanks to @Hoàng Hài.
The design of the Nikon Z 85mm F1.8 S appears compact and sleek, although it may not possess the aesthetic appeal of previous Nikon 85mm lens models. However, its compactness and lightness make it suitable for use with smaller mirrorless cameras rather than larger DSLRs.
Long and slender, it presents a somewhat unconventional appearance, unlike the sleek design of Nikon's older MC lenses.
The filter diameter measures 67mm.
Being lightweight is crucial.
The Nikon Z mount is significantly larger than others.
Capture from a low angle.
Personalize your wrist strap with an engraved name.

Adding more pull makes it very long.
