Qualcomm will introduce an ARM architecture chip in 2024 (Photo: Qualcomm)The launch of Apple Silicon M CPUs based on ARM architecture for desktop and laptop computers has initiated a new trend. While PCs with x86 processors still persist, many companies are beginning to explore the ARM PC segment, with Qualcomm among them.
Since Apple CPUs are exclusively designed for the company's ecosystem, other PC manufacturers require alternative solutions. Qualcomm is actively working to provide solutions for companies aiming to penetrate the ARM computer segment.

The company is slated to develop a robust ARM CPU for desktop computers. This CPU is expected to debut around 2024 and is codenamed 'Hamoa', featuring a total of 12 CPU cores.
Hamoa will feature a 12-core CPU in an '8 + 4' configuration. The large cluster consists of eight high-performance cores, while the remaining four cores help conserve energy. This chip will also include a GPU, though it may not be exceptionally powerful.

Qualcomm previously acquired the startup Nuvia, and the development of ARM chips for computers has been anticipated. The new architecture promises to increase performance by 50 to 100% within the 5-watt limit per core.
Sources indicate that the performance of this chip will be highly promising. Therefore, by 2024, we may see a chip lineup that gives PC manufacturers the opportunity to compete in the segment.
