The Department of Transportation of Quang Binh has recently made a decision to launch the Dong Hoi – Phong Nha bus route to facilitate locals and tourists visiting the Phong Nha – Ke Bang Heritage Site.
The Dong Hoi – Phong Nha bus route (route B4) will follow this itinerary: My Canh (Bao Ninh commune, Dong Hoi city) – Nhat Le 1 Bridge – Ly Thuong Kiet Street (National Highway 1) – Hoan Lao town (Bo Trach district) – Provincial Road 561 (TL2) – Ho Chi Minh Road – Phong Nha (Son Trach commune, Bo Trach district) and vice versa.

The operation of the Dong Hoi – Phong Nha bus route will be conducted through a bidding process with the participation of various transportation units within and outside the province. The Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee will provide partial initial funding to the transportation unit to put this bus route into operation as soon as possible.
The road from Dong Hoi City to Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park is approximately 40km long. Currently, this section of the road does not have public transportation. Tourists wishing to visit the caves in Phong Nha – Ke Bang can only travel by motorcycle or rent a car. The rental price for cars is relatively high, causing hesitation and uncertainty among many people. Therefore, the Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee has urgently requested the Department of Transportation to launch the Dong Hoi – Phong Nha bus route to support tourism development.
It is noted that Dong Hoi – Phong Nha is the second bus route opened in Quang Binh after the Ba Don – Dong Hoi route.
