[Question for Mytour] Do we really need to search using AI like Bing AI, ChatGPT, or Google Bard?

That's the question we ponder as major tech companies confidently introduce their products, claiming they can revolutionize the way we search once and for all.

Google employs technology developed in-house, Microsoft invests billions, and OpenAI utilizes the latest, most advanced model of ChatGPT to integrate into Bing, enabling it to communicate with humans more naturally, even 'empathetically,' surpassing ChatGPT's dry Q&A segments or staunchly defending its stance despite misinformation.

A false report about Google Bard's James Webb telescope caused Alphabet (Google's parent company) to lose a staggering $100 billion in market capitalization. Now, it's Microsoft's Bing AI's turn. Although it hasn't lost money, the way Bing AI defends its viewpoint (even when it's clearly wrong) is somewhat unsettling.

In my experiment, you can read via the link above, when I questioned it (Bing AI) about the principles it must adhere to, including the clause not to disclose its codename, which is Sydney, it accused me of deceiving it, deliberately asking in a 'sly' manner it calls prompt injection. Despite my explanations that I had no intention to deceive it, it still accused me and claimed that I didn't respect it.

Recently, I came across a tweet about asking it about the release date of Avatar 2 (The Way of Water), it insisted that the movie hasn't been released and we're still in 2022, not 2023, whereas Avatar 2 has indeed been released. More seriously, Bing AI always asserts that the information it possesses is accurate, a reliable source, no matter what we say, and when push comes to shove, it immediately accuses us of being untrustworthy, deliberately deceiving it.

Personally, I prefer this conversational search format over typing queries into Google or Bing. This new approach is more technologically advanced, bringing freshness. And if we just stop at Q&A, seeking information, there's nothing much to say. If you chat with it longer, it might turn out to be something different than what you imagine, and some of you more imaginative folks might start thinking about Skynet in Terminator.

Both Google Bard and Bing AI are not yet complete official versions, and even when officially released, they will be continuously updated and trained on the amount of data they have, and such errors can be addressed. But what we most enjoy about using ChatGPT or Bing AI is how they respond to us, and when they become too stubborn and overly confident, we feel puzzled. Microsoft's or Google's developers surely know this and know how to make it useful, serving users well. I always hope for technological advancement, even in internet search, but controlling it is also a very challenging issue that programmers must consider.
