When using Facebook, we often use our real names for our accounts, along with a nickname in parentheses that people commonly call. If you've set a nickname for yourself on Facebook but changed your mind and want to remove it, follow the instructions below.
1. How to Remove a Nickname on Facebook (Computer)
A nickname is the name in parentheses that appears below your Facebook account name. You have only one account name, but you can add multiple nicknames and other types of appellations. To manage and delete a nickname on Facebook, do the following:
Step 1: Open Facebook in your web browser, and log in to your account.
Step 2: Click on the downward arrow icon at the top right corner >> Your Profile.
Step 3: Select Intro from the horizontal menu bar.
Step 4: Proceed to select About You.
Step 5: In the Add another name section, click on the ellipsis icon next to the nickname you want to delete >> Remove name.
Step 6: Click Confirm to delete the nickname.
Step 7: If you don't want to completely delete the nickname but just want to hide it from the parentheses below your account name, select Edit name.
Step 8: Uncheck the Display box at the top of your profile >> Save.
Your nickname has now been removed from the top of your profile.
2. Fastest Guide to Removing Facebook Nickname (Mobile)
With the Facebook app on Android and iOS phones, the process to delete a nickname isn't much different. Here's what you do:
Step 1: Open the Facebook app on your phone and log in to your account.
Step 2: Navigate to the tab with 3 horizontal lines >> View your profile.
Step 3: Scroll down and click on the line View your introductory information.
Step 4: Scroll down until you see the section Other names. Click on the pencil icon next to the nickname you want to delete >> Remove name.
Step 5: When prompted if you are sure you want to remove the name, click OK.
Step 6: In case you don't want to delete the name entirely but just want to hide it below your account name, click on the Pencil and choose Edit name.
Step 7: Uncheck the box Display at the top of your profile. Finally, click Save to hide your nickname from the parentheses.
