It's undeniable that Journey to the West holds a special place in the childhood memories of millions of viewers across Asia, including Vietnamese fans. Recognizing the film's success wouldn't be complete without the support of the audience, the Journey to the West team once made a special episode to express gratitude and welcome the upcoming new year.

Kicking off the 1987 Lunar New Year event, director Dương Khiết expressed gratitude to the viewers, affirming that after the successful performance of Master Tang's scripture recitation, a 'fan meeting' would be organized for the cast to meet fans nationwide. However, due to unexpected delays, the female director of Journey to the West decided to create a special episode to send New Year wishes, ensuring all goes well for the viewers.

In this special 1987 Lunar New Year episode, viewers could clearly see the iconic characters from Journey to the West such as the Buddha, Bodhisattva, Hong Hai Nhi, beautiful female demons,... and of course, the Master Tang and his disciples.
