Realme Book Prime Design Review
The design philosophy of this slim laptop leans towards simplicity and sophistication, featuring a robust all-metal body with three appealing color variants. The lid is devoid of any adornments, sporting only the Realme logo with an attractive chrome finish.
The interior is equally minimalist, boasting a chiclet keyboard paired with a generously sized touchpad in its class. Notably, the Realme Book Prime's screen is adorned with extremely thin bezels, almost borderless with a screen-to-body ratio of up to 90%. However, the bottom bezel is slightly thicker, adorned with the centrally placed Realme logo.
The advantage of this Realme laptop lies in its compact and slim dimensions, measuring a mere 14.9mm in thickness. Additionally, it weighs relatively light within its segment, tipping the scales at just 1.37 kg. It's no wonder that this laptop is well-suited for the younger generation, particularly those with a penchant for mobility. The build quality of the Realme Book Prime laptop is notably sturdy, with smooth edges that offer a comfortable grip.
Unfortunately, the minimalist design of the Realme Book Prime laptop also translates into a relatively limited number of ports. On the right side of the laptop, there's one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port and a 3.5mm audio jack. Meanwhile, on the left side, there's a Thunderbolt 4 port supporting USB4, Power Delivery & Display Port, along with a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port also supporting Power Delivery & Display Port.
At the bottom edge of the laptop, you'll find two stereo speakers and ventilation holes. Additionally, the air vents or cooling vents located between the hinges will open up when you lift the laptop lid.
Configuration - Performance of Realme Book Prime
Realme has designed this laptop for young content creators, those who require fast performance at a competitive price point with the slogan 'Dare to Create'.
It's equipped with either the 4th generation Intel Core i5-11320H (8 threads) Tiger Lake H35 or 11th generation Intel Core running at a standard speed of 3.2GHz and TurboBoost up to 4.5GHz. This laptop is supported by 8GB of integrated dual-channel LPDDR4x-4266Mhz RAM, hence it's not upgradable.
The Intel Core i5-11320H processor used by this slim and lightweight laptop delivers swift performance as it utilizes the latest Willow Cove architecture with a 35-watt TDP combined with 10nm SuperFIN manufacturing technology, making the machine power-efficient. Compared to the previous generation, this processor provides up to 9.6% single-core performance increase and up to 21.8% multi-core performance increase.
Using a laptop to handle daily tasks like web browsing, content creation, typing, light photo editing, batch image conversion, etc., is no big deal. Even for heavy tasks like video editing and graphics rendering, it's not an issue. Of course, with a variant featuring 16GB RAM, performance can be maximized, especially for heavy multitasking.
The graphics domain of the Realme Book Prime should not be underestimated despite being supported by an integrated GPU. Why? Because the integrated GPU utilized by this laptop is not ordinary, specifically the Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 with 96 execution units (EUs) clocked at 400 – 1350MHz. The graphics performance of Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 can even be said to rival low-end discrete GPUs like the Nvidia GeForce MX350.
The Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 GPU that the Realme Book Prime utilizes is capable of smoothly running common games like Call of Duty: Warzone, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and some other games with customizable graphics settings. Not only that, this Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 also features Intel QuickSync which can enhance performance when editing photos and videos through supported applications like Adobe, etc., catering to young content creators.
The memory equipped in the Realme Book Prime is a 512GB PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 NVMe SSD. Based on information from CrystalDiskInfo, this SSD provides read speeds of up to 3100MB/s and write speeds of 1800MB/s.
Display
This slim and lightweight laptop is equipped with a 14-inch display utilizing LCD IPS (In-Plane Switching) panel technology with captivating LED backlighting with a 3:2 aspect ratio and a 2K Full Vision Display resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels capable of delivering 100% color gamut. The sRGB color gamut with a maximum brightness of up to 400 nits.
The screen quality of the Realme Book Prime laptop is quite satisfying and immersive with high resolution, making the machine look sharp and solid. This laptop screen also has the ability to produce rich colors thanks to its wide color gamut. Moreover, the support for IPS panel technology helps widen the viewing angles of the screen.
The good screen quality helps the Realme Book Prime satisfy the enjoyment of various multimedia content, daily work, and graphic design. The use of the unusual 3:2 aspect ratio truly boosts productivity as it provides a wider workspace view, thus eliminating the need for excessive scrolling when dealing with long documents or spreadsheets.
Sound
The Realme Book Prime is equipped with two Harman Kardon speakers located at the bottom of the laptop, precisely under the palm rest. The sound emitted by these laptop speakers is quite loud. When the volume is set near maximum, the sound quality is maintained and distortion is minimal.
The sound quality produced by the speakers of the Realme Book Prime laptop is relatively clear and detailed. Bass is present but lacks depth, so it's difficult to perceive without careful listening.
There are 2 microphones on the laptop combined with Elevon Vocplus AI noise reduction algorithm, Vocplus Pre-processing, and Vocplus Scream Suppression technology. When used, the laptop's microphones can reduce background noise to a minimum level, allowing the user's voice to be clearer.
Keyboard – Touchpad
The keys on this laptop keyboard appear quite large, finely tuned to the fingertips. Typing feels more comfortable with the support of a 1.3mm key travel.
In addition to comfort, the slim and lightweight keyboard of this Realme laptop is also equipped with backlighting with three brightness levels so it can still be used for typing even in low-light conditions. The touchpad of the Realme Book Prime laptop is very large, responsive, and comfortable for navigation.
Battery
The Realme Book Prime laptop is powered by a 54 WHr battery, a 4-Cell battery (integrated) which is claimed to last up to 12 hours of video playback. This laptop is also equipped with a 65W PD Super-Fast Charge feature that can charge the battery up to 50% in just 30 minutes.
