Shower caps may not be a traveler's best friend, but seize the opportunity to wrap your shoes before tossing them into your luggage.
Reasons to Bring Hotel Bathroom Goodies Home
Not every item in the hotel bathroom can be taken home. But for the ones allowed, take advantage for the following reasons:
Soap
Wrap and package them for use during international trips. Since soap is not a liquid, it doesn't take up space within the 100ml limit for liquids in carry-on luggage. At home, you can place them in the towel cabinet, between partitions, or use a towel to keep the cabinet smelling fresh.
Shampoo
This is another handy choice for travel. If the shampoo is in a bottle, when it's empty, you can rinse it out, then use it to store small items at work or for picnic outings.
Conditioner
Some travelers use conditioner instead of shaving cream when traveling. It's lighter, still complies with the 100ml liquid rule, and is used effectively. Similar to shampoo and soap, this compactness is ideal for hiking and camping trips when you're trying to pack as lightly as possible. You can also throw them in your gym bag when showering at the fitness center.
Shower Cap
You can take them home when family or guests stay over. If you need to pack a pair of dirty shoes in your luggage, wrap them in a shower cap to keep things clean for other items.
Toothbrush
Apart from its oral hygiene use on the flight back home, you can use it to clean various household items.
Souvenirs
One of Angus Kidman's colleagues, a travel pen, displayed a bottle of conditioner on her desk as a constant reminder of her recent favorite trip. She even has a nickname, Zeus, named after the brand of conditioner. It would be more effective if the item is designed in a special shape, for example, like the Luxor Hotel in Vegas (USA), with a soap piece shaped like a pyramid.
Many hotels now place soap and shampoo boxes in the room instead of the bathroom, making it more convenient for you to take as long as it's within the luggage limit.
