How to Capture Computer Screen Without Additional Software Installation
Method 1: Recording Computer Screen Using Xbox Game Bar
Windows 10 comes with a built-in tool called Xbox Game Bar for screen recording. While primarily designed for capturing gameplay, users can also utilize it to record any screen.
Step 1: First, open the Settings app, select Game. Under the Game bar tab, ensure you've enabled Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using Game bar.
Step 2: Press Windows + G to open the Game bar settings window. You may see an error notification Gaming features not available, indicating Game bar doesn't recognize your program as a game.
Step 3: Your task is to check Enable gaming features for this app to record gameplay. Then press Windows + Alt + R to start recording the screen.
Step 4: Prior to commencing the screen recording, it's advisable to press Windows + G again and adjust the application and output sound levels accordingly. If you wish to record audio from the microphone, you can either click the Mic icon on the Game bar options window or press Win + Alt + M.
To stop recording the screen, simply press Win + Alt + R once more. Recordings are saved in the directory C:\Users\USERNAME\Videos\Captures.
Method 2: Using Steps Recorder Tool to Capture Computer Screen
If you don't need to capture the full screen, Steps Recorder (formerly known as Problem Steps Recorder) is the ideal choice for you. Instead of recording a video, this tool captures screenshots of the process you undertake.
Step 3: Finally, click Save to store the recording. The data will be saved in ZIP format for easy sharing with other users.
Method 3: Screen Recording via YouTube Live Streaming
In addition to the above methods, you can also utilize tools or software for screen video recording via Live Streaming on YouTube to capture your screen.
Step 3: In the Live Streaming section on the left panel, click on Events, then select New live event on the right panel.
Step 4: Here, you'll set the title, description, and category for your live stream. It's important to change the privacy settings from Public to Private or Unlisted. In the Type section, set it to Quick. Click on the Go Live now button to start.
Step 5: Start Broadcasting
At this point, you'll see a new Google Hangouts On Air window with the webcam and microphone enabled, similar to a Hangouts call. Click on the icon at the top of the screen to mute the mic and video if desired.
Find and click on the Screencast icon (the green screen icon with an arrow) on the left panel. Then select whether you want to capture the entire screen or just a specific application window, and click on Start Broadcast.
Once finished, click on Stop Broadcast. After closing the Hangouts window, YouTube will save the video on your channel.
Step 6: Accessing the Video
Click on the profile icon in the top right corner, select YouTube Studio, and choose Videos on the left panel to view the recorded video. In the video window, find and click on Live to display stored live streams, and your recorded video will be in the Live replay section.
