Family is always the sanctuary after a long day of hard work and study. Just being with them brings peace and happiness. Family is where we can share every joy, sorrow, and create memorable experiences together. For me, I always cherish the joyful memories with my beloved older brother.
In the summer of fourth grade, my parents drove me to visit grandparents. One afternoon, I asked to go to Ngoc's house. Ngoc took me around the garden, showing me various plants and finally, we stopped by the pond behind the house. It was a wide pond with small lily pads floating on it. As I looked around, I spotted a small boat hidden among the bushes. Excitedly, I exclaimed:
- Ngoc...Ngoc... There's a boat over there. Let's row the boat together.
He turned towards me with a skeptical look:
- Do you know how to swim? If you go out there and sink, I won't be able to save you, got it?
I playfully held hands with him, passing them back and forth. Initially, he appeared hesitant and indecisive. After some contemplation, he decided to go along with my idea. Ngoc cleared the bushes and pulled the iron boat closer to the edge of the pond. He instructed me to hold wooden paddles and tossed them onto the boat for him. Tying one end of a rope to a stake to prevent the boat from drifting, he told me to step onto the boat. As soon as I set foot, the boat swayed, causing a bit of fear. After a few minutes of struggling, we began our journey around the pond. Everything was going smoothly until water started seeping into the boat in the middle of the pond. Panicking, I exclaimed:
- Oh no, we're sinking, what do we do now?
- Just sit tight, let me handle it. You and I will bail out the water together.
Both of us tried to bail out the water, but it seemed futile. All efforts seemed to vanish as both of us and the boat sank beneath the water. Fortunately, it was a sunny day, and the water level had receded enough for our feet to touch the mud. We waded to the shore, our bodies soaked, and our faces covered in moss.
Even though more than a year has passed, every time I recall that memory, I can't help but feel happy and burst into laughter. Perhaps, that's an experience I can never forget. For me, Ngoc will always be the beloved older brother.

2. Sample essay recounting a memorable family experience - Model 2:
Living within the loving embrace of family is always a moment of happiness and warmth for everyone. I always treasure and will forever remember the moments spent with my grandfather. The memory of him teaching me how to cook has become an indelible recollection, lasting a lifetime.
At the age of 11, just after finishing the end-of-school-year exams, my mother sent me to my grandfather's house. Throughout that three-month summer break, he taught me many valuable lessons. Thanks to him, I became more resilient, mature, and accumulated a wealth of precious knowledge.
I vividly recall one summer afternoon when I joined my grandfather in the kitchen to prepare lunch. Usually, I would help him pick and wash vegetables, and set the table. However, that day, he was busy preparing fish, so he asked me to roast peanuts. Knowing I had never done this before, he taught me how to stir the peanuts evenly without burning them. Standing by, I tried to listen and absorb his instructions. However, the practical process didn't go smoothly. Due to a too high flame and uneven stirring, the peanuts were nearly burnt. Walking into the kitchen and seeing the blackened pan, he chuckled lightly. Instead of scolding or blaming, he playfully teased, 'You're quite the silly one, aren't you?' Initially feeling sad and inadequate, hearing his words made me feel relieved and more comfortable.
In the days that followed, I regularly observed and learned from my grandfather's cooking sessions. If I had any questions, I would ask him for guidance. As a result, my culinary skills improved to some extent. I can now prepare simple dishes like roasted peanuts, fried tofu, and scrambled eggs.
Over the years, whenever the memory of the toasted coffee beans is brought up, not only do I and my grandfather burst into laughter, but everyone in the house joins in. That memory will forever flow like a clear stream, refreshing my soul.
